My golden dog, Sammi, was a bad girl today, she did an unthinkable act upon me which I would have never expected. Especially not from her, my unfriendly but very sweet and well behaved pooch.
It all started when I launched myself on an air mattress I set up for my relatives' weekend visit, unbeknownst to me that Sammi was already relaxing on it, I guess it was a sudden launch from me that startled her (she's known for being very unfond of sudden moves). She turned around and snapped at me, sort of like saying, “hey back off or I'll bite you”. Then it was my turn to be startled, so I sent her off of the mattress and yelled at her for being aggressive, and as I pushed her off, she went grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr again at me and then took off with an attitude to the study room for her favorite chair. I yelled after her, "you are a bad dog." And then after about 5 minutes of thinking, she jumped off the chair and made her way towards me and appeared on the other side of the mattress, looking like a wet dog, all pitifully slumped down, head low, ears drooped, eyes looking sad from a low position. She just stood there looking up at me. I picked my head up and continued to yell “you are a bad girl, go away…” and the more I yelled, the closer she would creep to where I lay. She finally got her pitiful body right up next to me, with her nose touching my hand and started to lick it very slowly. Her head was still low so I said, "alright, now now…don’t you give me that look, you know you can get away with doing that…" Well I wonder, is that a dog’s way of apologizing, heh? Next I found myself all forgiving her badness and started to pet her. I then pulled her in closer to me and gave her a big hug, whilst lecturing her to not be a bad dog again, and she responded to it by licking my hand more profusely, ears up, eyes exited. As soon as I let her have a breath, she jumped off the mattress and happily went around looking for her chewing bone. By tomorrow though, she will probably forget the whole incident, but I will never forget what she did, for this was one of those dog experiences that make us human just love 'em to death.

thanks for sharing your dog experience. my family once had a mutt. she had grown so old that she wasn't able to walk anymore so we put her to sleep a couple of years ago. my husband doesn't want to get another pet because he's still heartbroken. this is veronica from APOW.
